Building a Windows 7 Kiosk in 10 minutes

Right, so I can’t guarantee you it’ll only take 10 minutes, but after scouring the web for good ways to do it; I ultimately spent less time fixing it myself than banging my head against the desk trying everything I found. It’s easy, and it doesn’t require any third-party apps or solutions. My mission was this: We were implementing a XenDesktop-solution, using Web Interface 5.4. I had x number of thin clients, and x number […]

Migrating from Citrix Receiver Enterprise 3.x to Citrix Receiver 4.0 !Updated!

Update 10/10/13: Since I was handed two more factors; it had to be run for users on VPN; and it had to be absolutely bulletproof, I revised the script to do the following: – Check for installed version, so it doesn’t mess up allready installed Receivers. – Files are copied locally to computers, so it doesn’t run over the network. – I’m also running it as a scheduled task, since startup scripts don’t run well when […]

Boot-image problems in SCCM 2012 SP1

So this has pretty much been well documented elsewhere, but I’ll jot down some experiences of my own. Updating boot-images failed when installing SP1 for SCCM2012. Past due – Will be installed

We spent quite a bit of time cursing at this problem. In essence, a SCCM 2012 deployment, where all ‘required’ deployments were simply stuck at ‘Past due – Will be installed’. Clicking ‘Install all required’ worked, but was obviously not an option. So after plowing through log after log and everything looking fine and dandy; the deployments simply wouldn’t fire; I went though all the client default settings. An lo an behold. The perpetrator was […]

“LiteTouch has encountered an Environment Error (Boot into WinPE!)”

If you’re using MDT to deploy images, and the deployment crashes or you for some reason abort the installation in the middle of the installation; you might get a lingering installation. So when you retry, you get the “LiteTouch has encountered and Environment Error (Boot into WinPE!)” error message. This is because setup detects that there is an installation in progress, and decided to about (specifically, it reads the c:\minint folder). If this is a […]
