Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 BPA — Error 1722

A bit of a head-scratcher when trying to install the SQL Server 2008 R2 Best Practice Analyzer. The Baseline configuration analyzer installed just fine, and WinRM / PS2.0 was installed, so no prereqs were missing. Delegate unlock account privileges

So you want to delegate permissions to unlock accounts, as well as reset passwords for users in your domain? It’s not as straight forward as it should be. First, you have to edit %Systemroot%\System32\Dssec.dat to make the property visible. Open the file in notepad; find the [user] section, and change lockoutTime from 7 to 0. Close and save. The device, \Device\Scsi\symmpi1, is not ready for access yet.

So this had me cursing for quite a while. Case was a VMware virtualised 2003 R2 32-bit server, running IIS (customers intranet) which was pretty essential for the customer.
